John Winkler spends much of his time at 30,000 feet flying from one major multinational company seminar to another.

His career amongst the bigger companies took off in 1984 when he was given the International Award for his work on Pricing and Sales Growth by the Communauté Européene des Experts en Marketing et en Vente.

In the years following he added 25% of the companies in the FTSE100 Index to his list of clients for in-house seminars.

John set up his own company Winkler Marketing Limited over twenty five years ago; before that he was Marketing Director at the J Lyons Group of Companies.

His early career was in advertising and included a stint as marketing correspondent for The Times. He is still regularly asked to write features for well known management publications.

Now specialising in world-class seminars, The Director has called him "one of Britain's international lecture superstars" and The Sunday Times said "his lessons are elegantly rubbed home".

His six critically acclaimed books include world bestsellers and have been translated into many languages:

  • Marketing for the Developing Company (1969)
  • Winkler on Marketing Planning (1972)
  • Company Survival during Inflation (1975)
  • Bargaining for Results (1981)
  • Pricing for Results (1983)
  • Winning Sales and Marketing Tactics (1989)

He believes that business should be about having fun, growing and making money.

He ensures that the two go together in his seminars. "Try having a lot of fun when you are not making money" he says. Delegates at the seminars calculate the results of their ideas which can add up to over £20 million extra profits.

Not surprisingly the subject matter of his seminars incorporates Internet strategies.
